Spring Barrel tasting is your chance to get a jump on tasting and purchasing some of the best wines in wine country. A visit to the Valley on this weekend will allow you to sample yet-unfinished wines from the barrel.

Barrel  Barrel Tasting allows tasters a sneak preview of upcoming vintages from their favorite wineries. This special weekend in the Yakima Valley features winemakers and cellar staff who are on hand to share insights and answer questions on the winemaking process. Many of the 40 participating wineries make special efforts to enhance the wine tasting experience by adding delicious cheeses, sauces, salsas, and even desserts to the mix along with special tastings and education.

Upgrade your Yakima Valley wine tasting experience with a Wine Yakima Valley Premier Pass.  Passes are non-refundable.
Premier Passes WILL NOT be available for pick up or purchase at the wineries until Friday morning.   Premier Passes arrive at the winery first thing Friday morning.  If you go before to pick up your Pass it will not be there.

Premier Passes will be available for sale (Friday and Saturday) at Kana Winery, Airfield Estates Winery, Kestrel Vintners, Terra Blanca Winery, Tapteil Vineyard Winery ad Gooseridge Estate Winery.  The Visitor Information in Yakima will have Passes for sale beginning Wednesday, April 25, at 3:00pm.

Don't forget to bring your own wine glass or purchase one at your first stop.

Agate Field Winery Premier Pass holders will be invited to join us in our bottling room where you will be treated to free tasting of our premium wines, including our new release 2008 Drifter Merlot and of our new blend wine waiting to be bottled, paired with our specialty appetizers and our homemade dark chocolate brownies. We will also be offering up to a 20% discounts on all wines.

Join Airfield Estates during Spring Barrel for a spectacular tasting experience. Sample some of our favorite wines for spring and summer, get a sneak peak at upcoming wines still in barrel and take advantage of case specials. The $5 tasting fee is waived for Premier Pass holders.

Claar Cellars It's that time of year again, come try your palette and your luck at our Mystery Barrel. Come taste out of the barrel Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and see if you can figure out what varietal it is. We will draw one name from the correct guesses Sunday night and that lucky taster will win a mixed case of wine. If mystery isn't your thing, come join our Winemaker in the Premium Pass area Saturday or Sunday and grab a snack, taste a selection of unreleased wine and chat with the owners.

Join Goose Ridge Estate Winery for a weekend of fun, food and wine. Guests will get to visit with our wine makers and barrel sample some of our special upcoming vintages. We will be joined by Frost Me Sweet Bakery with some of their decadent creations. Test your luck by putting you name in for giveaways throughout the weekend. Goose Ridge Estate Winery will be featuring weekend only wine specials. Premier Pass holders will receive complimentary tastings and a 10% savings on all regular priced wines.

Hightower Cellars 

Kana Winery Barrel samples of incredible 2009 and/or 2010 "Old Vine" Lemberger, Reserve Syrah, and Tempranillo, all from the Yakima Valley, matched to samples cuisine made with spring-time seasonally fresh local ingredients matched to these varietals. Outdoor seating right outside our door, next to the Millennium Plaza, weather permitting, right in the heart of downtown Yakima. In the evening after 5PM the lights go down and we change gears for live unplugged-acoustic folk-rock and blues guitar music and wine-by-the glass or bottle along with appetizers.

Kiona Winery would like to introduce CYCLOPS a Rhone blend produced entirely from Red Mountain grapes. It was created for our wine club members and has just been released to the public. Try a taste with Ann William’s handmade chocolate. Stroll through Kiona’s art gallery and meet local artists John Clement and Ted Neth. Paradisos del Sol What to do, what to do? It is hard to come up with a new idea that I haven't done over the past 30 or more times I have presented these mini lectures. What interesting, fun, educational, comparative, tasting lurks in the barrel cave?

Well, until it warms up in April, we won't find it. Will it be one wine - two yeasts, one juice - two wines? Hmm, that's the ticket. Dry Riesling - Angelica R (for Riesling), two extremes that began as one juice. A demonstration that sweetness in the realm of the wine maker not the grape. I think that should be at the top of the list of potentialities for Spring Barrel Tasting.

We also offer an eight-course micro-mini meal, nothing elaborate, just eight tiny bites of food to go with our eight different wines. Sip, Sip, Bite, Sip!

We start off with a dab of Mushroom Paté and our Rosé Paradiso, followed by a sliver of Brie cheese for the Oyster White, and a bit of Sushi Rice as an accompaniment to our Riesling. Next are our reds—with the new release of our Under 10 Buck Red we are serving Daddy's Mac-N-Cheese. Paradisos Red is our pizza wine; we would love to have pizza, but it just doesn't seem to work as a small-bite option, who can eat just one bite? So instead, we have a Bean in Adobo Sauce. This is followed by our ever famous Bleu Cheese Dip with the Cabernet Sauvignon. And now we are ready for dessert, two of them! With the Zort, we have a sliver of Truffles Paradisos (handmade French-style chocolate truffles flavored with Grains of Paradise and raspberries). We suggest you melt this in your mouth rather than bite. Last, but not least, is our Angelica MRS. We have a skosh of pumpkin custard to go with that.

Sleeping Dog Wines will be offering our newly-released 2007 Ciel de Chien, a Merlot-based blend that commemorates our original sleeping dog, along with an enticing selection of white, rose, and red varietals. Visit Snoqualmie Winery for Spring Barrel Tasting and sample some of our organically grown wines, including our 2010 Naked Cabernet Sauvignon, releasing this fall.  Enjoy listening to Ben Macy live on Saturday from noon to 3:30, while sampling wine on our patio.  Spring wine specials will be available. Southard Winery will be open from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during Spring Barrel Tasting. And oh, how there will be barrel tasting! Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the 2011 Zinfandel Project, a wine created by friends Scott Southard, Ben Grossman, and Tedd Wildman. Mr. Wildman, part-owner of StoneTree Vineyard and viticultural badass, will be on hand to conduct barrel tasting and answer your questions, as will Mr. Southard. It should be noted that both men like to wear beards. Mr. Grossman may be on hand as well. He is very good at answering questions but is not at all likely to be wearing a beard. Current releases will be available for tasting and purchase. A $10 tasting fee will be waived for Premier Pass-holders.

Join us for our annual celebration of Spring at Steppe Cellars! Try wine from the barrel and talk with the folks who help bring it to you! Bring a lunch to enjoy in our scenic picnic grounds, or let our caterer prepare you one. Premier Pass holders will have the reserve tasting fee waived.

We will be hosting two winemaker's dinners. One Saturday April 28th and another during the pre-barrel celebration the Saturday before. Both dinners will be a multi-course meal, paired with two wines for each course. This allows diners to explore how the tastes and aromas of different wines are enhanced by the different elements of each food course. The dinner and guided wine pairing start at 6:30 April 21 and April 28. Limited number of tickets available. Check our website for details.

Tanjuli Winery waives the tasting fees on our regular wines for PremierePass holders. Enjoy a barrel sample of our Viognier. We will also offer our 2007 Malbec, 2006 Petit Verdot on special at 2 for $50.  Come pull up a bar stool and enjoy the magic of Tanjuli Winery.

Tapteil Vineyard Winery will compare the effects of oak barrel aging on our estate wine, we will also release our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. A $5 tasting fee will be waived for Premier Pass holders. Heirloom quality barrel furniture by Stan Gracie will be featured in the tasting room. Gourmet imported olive oil and balsamic vinegar are available for tasting. Enjoy the sweeping views from this notable Red Mountain vineyard.

Tefft Cellars  Steve Roberts, author of Wine Trails  Washington will be at our winery on that Saturday. He will be signing books and  talking to our guest about experiencing Washington Wine Country.

Terra Blanca Winery is waiving the $5 refundable tasting fee for Premier Pass holders and offering a Spring Barrel exclusive gift of 15% off the purchase of 3 or more bottles of wine. Enjoy Spring Barrel at Terra Blanca open late Friday night for Café Orsa, cuisine by Twigs Bistro with live music. Come visit Thurston Wolfe the 2012 Northwest Winery Of the Year. Dr. Wade Wolfe will be tasting the 2010 Cabernet Sauvgion out of the barrel from McKinley Springs and Destiny Ridge vineyards. Join Two Mountain Winery for Spring Barrel Tasting 2012. Back by popular demand, Mariono’s Tacos! Listen to live music in the afternoon while tasting Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon straight out of the barrel. Premier Pass holders will receive complimentary reserve tastings.

Yakima Valley Vintners Student winemakers will be providing complimentary facility tours with educational stations featuring the difference decanting makes, food and wine pairings and a Carmenere barrel tasting. Passport holders will receive a complimentary reserve tasting. All guests will receive a 20% discount on case purchases.

Willowcrest Winery Premier Passt holders will be able to enjoy a full range of tastings from our catalog as well as our 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon right out of the new french oak barrels we used to age it.  They will also receive a 15% discount on all wine purchases.  There will be a $5 tasting fee for non-passport holders who provide their own glass, $10 for those without which includes a collectible glass.  We will also be serving up some of our famous Willow Crest BBQ on the patio for lunch!
