Social media is best enjoyed in the comfort of actual community, so we can’t wait for our first-ever, AVA-based social media gathering with you all next week. To make sure the day is useful for every level of winery / vineyard, we’ve broken the day into two bite-sized experiences. Take a look at the material below. The first hour is a mix of presentations & discussions, speaking to concrete topics & items that affect us every day. We’ll also be handing out a PDF with stats & facts, tips & tricks, and results of WSW’s first-year of in-house social media to those who attend.
The second hour, we’ll bring these topics to life: there will be wine, free time to continue conversations, and brainstorm with your neighbors. But while we’re there, we’ll also be doing some social media demos for anyone interested: staging shots with wine, doing group cheers + boomerangs, and posting immediately to our social handles (@wa_state_wine), so you can see the immediate impact / just how easy stories can be.
Get Social With Your Media (20 min, Brett Rawson, Social Media Manager @ Washington State Wine): an overview of WSW’s social media program and our role within the industry (how we can be your megaphone), with a specific eye on breaking down “social media” into its two natural components — social & media — and providing specific examples of what has / hasn’t worked well for us this past year.
Voice as Brand (20min, Brett Rawson + Seth Kitzke, Kerry Shiels, and Laura Schlect): a panel discussion about voice as brand, and targeting audiences. Who do we reach and how, and how do we reach others we aren’t? Here, we focus on tailoring the tools of social media to your brand and voice, versus trying to make your brand as a voice on social media.
Relationship Status (With Social Media): It’s Complicated (20min, Brett Rawson + Justin Neufeld, and Seth Kitzke): the world is having trust issues with the internet (just wait for the elections in 2020). So here, we’ll talk about the bandwagon: when you should hop on it, but also when you should hop off it. Meaning, how do you create a digital strategy for the long-run, and cultivate long-term relationships through social media that lead to actual sales?
We hope to see you next week! As a lot of winemakers and grape growers say, rising tide floats all boats, so let’s figure out how to create a collective impact in the chaotic space of cyber-selfies. Also to note, we’ll also introduce you to our newest digital series (a video series loosely titled “AVA’tion,” and for any winery interested in partaking, we’ll schedule out a time to visit you in-person.
