Visiting Yakima Valley wine country for wine tasting is always a treat, but did you know that the Yakima Valley is also a Christmas shopping goldmine?  A day of shopping in wine country will help you knock out that Christmas list while sampling the wines.

Membership to a local wine club is the gift that keeps on giving. Most Yakima Valley wineries offer affordable wine club memberships with year-round benefits. Wine club members enjoy seasonal pick-up parties, VIP pricing, discounts, first choice of seating at special events, and free tastings for guests. Call or visit your favorite Yakima Valley winery to enroll your friends and family. You can even sign up for some wine clubs online.

Wine is an ideal hostess gift and the perfect match for any holiday table. Throughout December, some local wineries are going all out with holiday gift packs, shipping deals, and discounts for a hassle-free shopping experience. All you have to do is select the bottles and the winery will do the shipping.  Don’t wait too long if your sending wine for delivery before Christmas.

Purple Star Wines is offering 1 cent shipping on all gift boxes for the holidays.  Several options are available including some featuring Chukar Cherries. If that’s not enough, the one cent shipping extends to 26 states.

Enjoy $6 shipping on three, six or twelve bottle orders at Two Mountain Winery until December 18. If you need a larger bottle, library magnums of the 2010 Merlot ($75) and the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon ($80) are available with $5 shipping.

For the month of December, Owen Roe winery is offering a daily screamin’ deal. The deal of the day will be revealed with a short video posted on the winery’s social media pages. Owen Roe is also offering gift packs in the tasting room and on-line as well as 1 cent shipping on orders of $250 or more.

Handmade items always make a special gift. Paradisos del Sol’s gift shop features hand-blown glass wine bottle toppers, wine-glass charms, and jewelry. The winery is also featuring case discounts of up to 50% off two bottles, (one white and one red) offered at $7 each with the case discount.

If you have a champagne lover on your list, Treveri Cellars is one of the few local retailers offering champagne flutes. If you haven’t seen Treveri’s beautiful sparkly bottles, you are missing out. Decorated in holiday colors, these bottles will melt your heart and the wine will tantalize your taste buds.

After opening that special bottle of wine, make sure you can evenly pour a drip-free glass.

14 Hands Winery sells beautiful stainless-steel wine pourer/aerators in the shape of a horse head, a perfect representation of their brand and a must have for any horse lover. For the airplane enthusiasts, Airfield Estates

sells detailed airplane bottle toppers. A fun way to keep your wine covered.

Some of the best holiday gifts are those that involve an experience.  Wine events such as Red Wine & Chocolate – that delectable combination of rich red wine & dark chocolate – and Secret Crush – a taste of the Valley’s best wines under one roof – are two local wine events held during the month of February.  Tickets for these events are 25% off until December 25.  These items can be purchased at wineyakimavalley.org with the promo code MERRY2017.
